Are you ready? I said, are you READY? Comcast has just doubled their internet speed tiers in a lot of markets, including that whole greater Boston area, with no additional cost to home subscribers.
Get ready for this name – Xfinity Blast! You can now download at speeds of up to 50 million bits per second, compared to the 25 million bits per second, according to Comcast. The Extreme 50 customers will now receive speeds at a max of 105 million bits per second, which was previously 50 million bits per second.
That’s incredible, but it gets even better. If you really want, you can get Platinum Internet by Xfinity, which is a whopping 305 million bits per second. You used to only be able to get internet speeds like that if you worked for the government, so pretend that you’re a secret agent as you download tons of movies and music in the blink of an eye. Just do it legally – don’t be a jerk.
According to Comcast, this is the seventh time since 2002 that the company has increased speeds for its customers. Awesome! Imagine how fast the next seven updates will be. It blows my mind.
Compare that to Verizon Communications Inc. who last month launched their FiOS Quantum service which only offers 300 million bits per second. Psh. Pathetic. Do they really think that’s what customers need?
Some may say these internet speeds are overkill, but they really aren’t when you consider how many people in your family are trying to connect at the same time. If you’ve ever experienced that, you know that it’s really annoying and can lag your videos or something like that. So this is a great step in getting the Internet that’s only dreamed about. Quick and always quick. Now the only thing is to make sure that you use up all your bandwidth before it uses up you.
